Volunteers of all ages gathered on the back patio of Wild Duck Soup Emporium last Saturday for the Arts & Ag Garden Project Kick-off. Raised beds were constructed from reclaimed barn wood and will soon be layered with “greens” and “browns” using the now famous method first written about by Patricia Lanza in her groundbreaking book, Lasagna Gardening: A New Layering System for Bountiful Gardens: No Digging, No Tilling, No Weeding, No Kidding!
Tom and Sheri Bulla oversaw the construction of the beds and as you can see, they had lots of help!
Later in the day Ted Clausen taught a beginners seed starting workshop. He was a HUGE hit!
Jesse Sarlo put together our rain collection system and we upcycled old tires into planters with paint donated by our local shelter, Women Are Safe. An ENORMOUS “THANK YOU” to all those who came by to help! There was a lot of hard work to make this happen (and still a lot left to do). THANK YOU – this would not have happened without YOU!
