John and Christy Porch grow several varieties of lavender on their tiny hobby farm located on Hwy 230 in Little Lot TN. The Porch’s harvest their fragrant plants by hand using traditional methods during its short blooming season each June. The lavender harvesting is done cutting the stem of the plant with a sickle; subsequent cuts are made to favor the growth of new stems.
If you’re lucky enough you can buy a bundle of fresh cut lavender from Christy before she sells out for the season. But her dried sachets can usually be found year round.
